ÖkoFEN, which means ecological research and development was founded in Austria in 1989, with more than 27,000 installations all over Europe. Pellematic boilers are now UL approved and available in the United States, imported by Maine Energy Systems and sold by Maine Pellet Boilers of Brunswick, Maine.

These boilers are fully automatic, making them as convenient as burning oil or gas. Burning wood pellets is carbon neutral. Pellets are manufactured locally and are abundant.
